He is no other than Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao, the first eight division world champion and now considered as one of the famous athletes of his time.
Yet the road to success had not been easy for Manny. A high school drop out, from a broken family, Manny went his way through hardships and paved his way to make a mark in the world through blood and sweat and an emboldened heart. At a young age of fourteen, Manny roamed the streets of Manila and even made it is home for a time. Then he became part of the Philippine National Amateur boxing team funded by the government and that it when his destiny started to Manny.
Manny started his Professional boxing career at the age of 16 impelled by the death of his dear friend who is also a boxer , Eugene Brutag. Manny started to have a small victories but his debut fight was with Edmund “Enting” Ignacio, on January 22, 1995 where he won via a decision and his name started to ring on the ring. From that fight , many has gone along way into conquering his eight division world titles; WBC Flyweight World Champion (112 lbs) IBF Junior featherweight World Champion (122 lbs) the Ring Featherweight world Champion (130 lbs) The ring Junior Lightweight World Champion (130 lbs0 WBC Lightweight World Champion (140 lbs) WBO Welterweight World Champion (147 lbs) WBC Super Welterweight World Champion (154 lbs).
Together with his trainer Freddie Roach many had become a record breaking, hall of famer truly unforgettable athlete worthy to be idolized and look up to.
