Breed Description:
Height: The Affenpinscher's height is about 9-11 inches tall measured at the withers.
Weight: The Affenpinscher's weight ranges from 7-8 lbs.
Colors: The Affenpinscher dog can be black, gray, silver, red, black and tan, or beige.
General Appearance: The Affenpinscher is a wiry-haired terrier-like toy dog whose intelligence and demeanor make it a good house pet. The Affenpinscher originated in Germany and it's name means “monkey-like terrier”. The breed was developed to rid of rodents. In France the dog breed is described as the “Diablotin Moustachu” or moustached little devil. Both describe the appearance and attitude of this delightful dog. The Affenpinshcer is described as having a neat but shaggy appearance. The Affenpinshcer is good with children and other dogs.
Temperament: The Affenpinscher's general demeanor is game, alert, and inquisitive with great loyalty and affection toward its master and friends. This dog breed is generally quiet, but can become vehemently excited when threatened or attacked. The Affenpinshcer dog is fearless toward any aggressor.
Care: The Affenpinscher requires brushing two to three times a week. Ear, tooth, and nail care are required weekly for this dog breed.
Training: Obedience training should begin at a very early age for Affenpinscher puppies.
 Activity: The Affenpinscher requires very little exercise. Walks or access to a secured yard where they can play for hours will be enough to satisfy their exercise requirements .
Life Span: The Affenpinscher will live about 10-12 years.
Litter Size: The Affenpinscher averages about 2-3 puppies per litter.
Country of Origin: The Affenpinscher originated in Germany.
Brief History: Little is know about the origins of the Affenpinscher dog breed. The Affenpinscher can be traced back to 1600, though some say that they are an ancestor of the Brussels Griffon. Affenpinschers were once a prized possession of royalty and have made their way into a few famous paintings.
