Guitar Chord Series

For instance, you have a copy of your favorite song, you want to sing and accompany it with guitar but there are no chords or accompaniment guide in it. You don’t know how to accompany without accompaniment guide. What will you do?
The first thing that would possibly come into your mind will be, you will refer to the chord chart, for you will not know which to choose out of that numerous chords inside the chart. This is the common problem of the beginners.
There are things to consider before you can solve the problem. One is the basic keys. You must know that there are twelve major and minor keys on which a song and accompaniment usually begins. Another one is the accompaniment chord series. Each of that twenty four keys has its own set of chords to be used for accompaniment.
The key of C has its own set of chords to be used for accompaniment, as well as the key of D, and the other keys. The set of chords in each key is what the so called, CHORD SERIES. In every series there is a set of ten chords, but not all of these ten chords be used in accompaniment. It depends upon the arrangement of the song. There are songs that require only two chords for the accompaniment, while others require more chords.
Now, that chord series can offer to solve the problem? What it can do about the song that has no accompaniment guide? Well, this chord series just lessen the big problem about accompaniment. Instead of searching the few chords needed for a song accompaniment from the numerous chords in the chord chart, you will just select these few chords from the ten chords in the series. Now you can provide an accompaniment of your favorite song. Just play the first chord of C series and sing the first note of the song in harmony with the tune of the Chord C. If you feel that you are having a low pitch, and then try the other keys until you get the right pitch.
Let us presume that you are in the key of E, so you are to use the chords in E series. Your first chord of accompaniment will be E. As you continue to sing the melody, you will come to the point where the chord E that you are playing will no longer fit to the melody of the song. This means that you need to play another chord that will harmonize the melody. Just select another chord from the ten chords of E series that will harmonize with the note you are singing and write the chord name above the lyric of the song where the note of the song and the accompaniment are supplied.
Try to play the Chords you have written above the lyrics, and find out if they are making a good-accompaniment. If you can find the chords all right, then you can proceed to your singing and accompaniment. In the beginning, you still have to depend on the chord series for every accompaniment you wish to make, but later on, you will familiarize the chords in each series and will need not he chord series anymore.
