2012 Opel Ampera model- five doors

Carl-Peter Forster the president of General Motors Europe unveiled the extended-range electric vehicle and announced plans to put the car into production in late 2011.The five-doors, four-seats 2012 model Opel Ampera is influenced by Opel's award-winning design language of sculptural artistry meets German precision, incorporating several styling cues from the innovative Flextreme and GTC Concept show cars. The Opel Ampera's wheels are turned electrically at all times and speeds. For journeys up to 60 km (MVEG), it runs on electricity stored in the 16-kWh, lithium-ion battery, and emits zero CO2. When the battery's energy is depleted, electricity from an engine-generator extends the Ampera's range to more than 500 km.

The Opel Ampera is a rebadged Chevrolet Volt. It features an electric motor with 111 kW (150 hp / 152 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. Power is provided by a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery which allows the Ampera to travel up to 60 km (37 miles) on electricity alone. When the battery is depleted, a 1.4-liter petrol engine recharges it while simultaneously providing power to the electric motor.
